Commodity Specialist II – Contract Manufacturing/Electronics

• Develop, manage, monitor and maintain partnership relation with all Contract Manufacturer Suppliers and/or, other key strategic suppliers to effectively support business sustainability.
• Use commodity knowledge and experience to focus on how to continuously identify cost saving opportunities and initiate required projects to improve the company’s bottom line.
• Support R&E for new development through supplier selection, quoting, parts qualification and delivery.
• Work with Director of Sourcing and Dover Commodity Groups to drive supplier base optimization/rationalization.
• Contribute to overall supply chain KPI’s (On Time delivery, Service rate, ITO….etc.)

Essential responsibilities include the following:

• Work closely and support the Director of Sourcing with focus on sourced materials.  Define the strategy for responsible commodities.
• Effectively develop and maintain partnership relationships with suppliers.
• Identify cost saving opportunities – consistently & continuously – within commodities and  efficiently manage cost savings projects.
• Support Product to Market (PTM) project through supplier selection, RFQ, price negotiation, margin improvement, part qualification and on time delivery.
• In-depth Analysis and optimization of the supplier portfolio, and propose / implement improvement actions (rationalization of the number of suppliers, 2nd tier supplier sourcing, change of supplier..etc.
• Select, visit and qualify suppliers within the commodities managed
• Negotiate and set up contracts with chosen suppliers.
• Validate and closely monitor supplier contracts.
• Negotiate the price, maintain the unit price in the POCT, review monthly PPV report and develop action plans.
• Identify supplier risks, propose and implement selected action plan.
• Support other departments  (procurement and engineering, etc.) as needed.
• Provide monthly activity reporting to Director of Sourcing.  Populate monthly scorecard as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
• Participate in all company training and commit to D-O objectives/mission to ensure powerful team collaboration and execution with all  “internal” customers / suppliers’  relationship philosophy (across all departments) so as to enable D’O’s overall financial and customer goals are achieved.
• Participate in continuous professional development / training to effectively liaise and interact with diverse range of company team members…..so as to ensure the best results are obtained.
• Travel estimated at 15 – 20%
• Domestic and global travel as required

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

• Solid Electro-mechanical sourcing experience (PCBA, Motor, Cable, Sheet Metal, Plastics, Castings…etc.)
• Good International logistics flows experience with large global Contract Manufacturers (EMS suppliers)
• Strong experience in Sourcing Plastic Technical parts and proven ability for managing project to transfer tools overseas.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and collaborate closely with Engineering and Product Marketing.  Special interest in the product (technology, innovation, techniques, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience with strategic commodity sourcing programs in low cost country environment which reduces total cost ownership and improves supplier base.
• Extensive, strong negotiation and contract / supplier agreement experience
• Self-directed with proven time management, organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task without sacrificing quality or deadlines.
• Strong Project Management skills,….incl. ability to report, give warning, and to synthesize back to management.
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible, innovative and customer centric (external & internal)….to incl. thriving in an entrepreneurial environment where growth, required change in priorities, scope and responsibilities occur
• Strong, assertive demeanor with excellent interpersonal and team member skills
• Essential desire / need / ability to be ‘empowered’ to make the best decision for the Customer and Company alike
• Proven ability to develop, maintain, manage effective working relationships with global / domestic colleagues and diverse levels of management and staff
• Excellent command of  the English language – both written and oral
• Strong computer software/MRP skills – MS Office, Fourthshift, SAP, etc.

• BS / BA or equivalent education.  Graduate degree highly desirable.  
• Professional Certification a Plus  (CPSM or CPM from ISM, CSCP from APICS, etc.)
• Total:  Min. 10 yrs’ work experience  to include:
• Min. 4 yrs’ Sourcing experience with Electronics / Plastics within an industrial production / manufacturing company
• Min. 6 yrs’ Sourcing experience in a global sourcing / purchasing management  company
